Our Story

About the Museum

This unique museum, the oldest museum on Curaçao, founded in 1948, is housed in a beautiful architectural monumental building, a former Military Hospital, built in 1853. The museum has an extensive Art collection of local and internationally renowned artists and organizes exhibitions regularly featuring established as well as emerging artists. Take a stroll and relax in their quietly shaded botanical and sculpture garden where you will find sculptures by freedom fighters like Luis Brion and Manuel Piar but also modern works of art by local artists Yubi Kirindongo and Hortence Browne. The Snip Gallery outside houses the cockpit of the “Snip”, the first KLM plane to cross the Atlantic Ocean from Amsterdam to Curaçao in 1934.
